We look forward to meeting you on your first visit to our office. During this time, we will help you get acquainted with our office and learn about your orthodontic treatment. We understand that each patient’s orthodontic treatment is different, and we promise to give you the personal attention you deserve. Your first orthodontic visit will consist of an examination and discussion of potential treatment options. This important visit will address your orthodontic needs to determine if this is the proper time to begin treatment.

If you choose to go ahead with the orthodontic treatment proposed, then three appointments need to be set up.

The first appointment is the Records appointment (1.5 hours). At this appointment impressions will be taken so that models of your teeth can be made. Radiographs (different than your dentist takes) are taken. In addition, photographs of your face and teeth are taken. Seperators are usually placed between the back teeth to create space for the Banding appointment. Then the orthodontist looks at these records and draws up an individualized treatment plan for you.

The second appointment is the consultation (1 hour), approximately 2 weeks after the records appointment. At this appointment we explain all aspects of your treatment in detail using the records we have taken. We will review a complete clinical diagnosis regarding the nature of the problem, a written summary of the findings and a detailed plan that outlines your treatment, goals and fees. We encourage questions from both the patient and the parent, and as such, we provide ample time to answer your questions.

The third appointment is the banding appointment (5 hours), approximately 1 week after the consultation. At this appointment the braces go on. There are bands that go on the back teeth and on the rest of the teeth, brackets are placed. Then one or several archwires are placed. The teeth then begin actual movement through the archwires, elastics, appliances and or headgear.
